Submission Guidelines

Note: We don't accept poetry, scripts, screenplays, children's books, or textbooks, cookbooks or works generated by artificial intelligence. 

We represent quality fiction and non-fiction in a variety of categories including: romance, women’s fiction, mystery, thriller, science fiction, fantasy, YA, plays, and humor.

3 Paragraphs and 1 Sample of Material:

Paragraph One - Introduction:

Include the title and category of your work (i.e. fiction or non-fiction and topic), an estimated word count and a brief, general introduction.

Paragraph Two - Brief overview/Blurb/Short Summary:

This should read similar to what is found on the back-cover of a published book. 

Paragraph Three - Creator’s bio:

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.

Sample Material - Your Work:

Include within the body of the email, ONLY the first 3 pages of your first chapter OR your best chapter. 

Tips​ and Tricks

☑︎ Queries should have the word “query” in the subject line.

☑︎ Include a word count of your project. Example: 70,000 words

☑︎ Please do not query on projects which are not complete. 

☑︎ Include the information you would in a standard, snail mail query, such as pertinent credentials, publishing history, and overview of the book. 

☑︎ We do not accept simultaneous submissions to other agencies.

☑︎ Do not send attachments and keep query within the body of the email. We will not open any attachments.

☑︎ For theatre scripts, please include a character list and genre identifier (Drama, Tragedy etc.) 

We only accept submissions via email. Queries should be directed to slushpile @ yahoo.com. 
We do not accept or respond to phone, paper, or social media queries.

  • We attempt to respond in a timely fashion. However, due to the volume of queries we receive, we will likely only respond to queries that are of interest to us. If you have a question or concern with regard to your submission, email is the best way to inquire.

  • We are not liable for any lost or misdirected mail.

  • We do not charge a reading fee.

  • The Agency charges clients for overseas postage and calls, photocopying and shipping.

  • The Agency receives 15% commission on domestic sales, 20% commission on foreign sales.
